JOINING THE DOMŽALE LIBRARY
- you need a valid identification card (ID or passport)
- you have to fill in a form
- the membership card costs 2€ and is not transferable
The membership card is used for borrowing and returning materials in the Domžale Library and its local libraries.
If you lose the card you have to inform the library staff.
BORROWING MATERIALS
The loan period for:
- fiction: 14 days
- non-fiction: 30 days
- DVDs, CDs, VHS and CD-ROMs: 7 days
- multimedia language courses: 30 days
There are no limits for borrowing books.
The loan period can be renewed once, but only for books and multimedia language courses.
You can borrow 3 DVDs, 3 CDs, 3 VHS and 3 CD-ROMs at a time but cannot renew your loan period for these items.
There are no renew loan periods possible for books requested as compulsory reading or if there is a hold on them made by another member or if you get a notice.
You cannot borrow special books marked by a sign (these materials can only be used in the library) as well as newspapers and journals.
We charge daily fines on overdue items. Check the price list.
If you are 14 days overdue your loan period, you get the first notice. If you still do not return the materials, you will be sent the second notice in 7 days and another again after 7 days. If your borrowed materials are under the third notice, you cannot borrow the new ones till you pay all your fines.
Renewing loan period:
- by telephone during opening hours
- via any network computer using the service My Library on COBISS
To perform that you will need a PIN code, which you can get at the circulation or info desks
You can use this service for renewing the loan period provided you have no overdue items on record. You can also use this service to make a hold on books you would like.
Staff at the information desks can help you throughout the day.
You can also: - bring your PC into the library (wireless connection to Internet)
- study in the reading room
- read magazines and newspapers
- listen to music where provided
There are also all sorts of cultural and educational events which are mostly free for you to visit.
LIBRARY RULES:
- no food or drink (except water) is allowed to be brought into the Library
- mobile phones must not be used in the Library
- smoking is not allowed
- damaging or defacement of library materials by marking, erasure or mutilation is strictly forbidden
- you should behave properly and not disturb other visitors
- loud talking, yelling and running around the library are forbidden
ABOUT OUR LIBRARY
Domžale Public Library covers the area of 5 municipalities with the main library in Domžale and its local libraries in Lukovica, Moravče, Mengeš and Trzin with app. 52.000 residents in total. Besides its basic and regular services like loaning the library materials and providing information it also offers: interlibrary loans, the use of Internet - free of charge - and the access to various databases, activities for children (fairy- tales hours, library-pedagogical activities, exhibitions, the family reading project ‘Pravljični Palček’), activities for adults ( projects to support adults at reading, life-long education, Epi reading badge, collecting demographic literature, ...)
Domžale Library is situated on the upper floor of the shopping mall with the football pitch behind it. So the visitors can find the three most important elements of our modern society in one place: a book (library), a shopping trolley (shopping mall) and a ball (football pitch).
The library is easily accessible by car or on foot, with a large parking space, and is also accessible for disabled people by escalators and elevators.
The whole library space is on the same level. The architectural style of Miran Lasić is recognizable by functionally, circularly and elliptically designed furniture. At the entrance there are several large wooden spinning boards used for art as well as photography exhibitions.
